About the position

The Civil or Environmental Project Engineer will support various civil and environmental engineering projects, focusing on groundwater extraction and treatment, remediation investigations, and wastewater treatment design. The role involves coordinating with project managers, preparing engineering designs, conducting field investigations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure completion of engineering scope within schedule and budget.
• Prepare engineering design drawings and specifications.
• Write technical reports and conduct field investigations/site reconnaissance.
• Manage project permitting and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
• Perform engineering cost estimating and analysis.
• Conduct engineering design calculations and provide bid and award services.
• Review RFIs and submittals, and provide construction phase engineering services.
• Support environmental projects including sampling field work and data management.
• Prepare project scopes of work and budget estimates.
• Coordinate with team on preparation of design documents and internal QA/QC reviewers.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• 5-10 years of experience in civil or environmental engineering.
• Illinois-Licensed P.E. certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization and operations planning skills.
• Self-starter, detail-oriented, and able to finish tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Adobe, and other business software.
