About the position

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Entry Level Engineer to join our team in either Frisco, TX, Lisle, IL, or St. Louis, MO. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on telecommunications and utility projects, providing a solid foundation for a career in the utility engineering industry. As an entry-level engineer, you will be involved in various job activities that will enhance your knowledge and skills in this field. In this role, you will support the development of telecommunication and utility-related projects. Your responsibilities will include conducting site visits to survey, locate, and document existing conditions, which may require overnight travel depending on the job location. You will also review roadway plans to identify any conflicts with existing utilities and design telecommunications and other utility projects using design software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD. This position is ideal for recent graduates or those with limited experience looking to grow in a supportive and dynamic environment. Responsibilities

  • Support telecommunication and utility related project development
  • Complete site visits including surveying, locating, and documenting existing conditions
  • Review roadway plans to identify conflicts with existing utilities
  • Design telecommunications and other utility projects using MicroStation, AutoCAD, or other design software

Requirements

  • BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Exposure to transportation plans, telecommunications, or utilities is a plus
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is a plus
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to travel and possess a valid driver's license

  • Exposure to transportation plans
  • Experience with telecommunications or utilities
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
