About the position

Civil Science is seeking a qualified Civil Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects in residential, municipal, and commercial sectors. This role involves coordinating project activities, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulations while working under the supervision of the Office Manager. The position emphasizes collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate project activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Collaborate with Office Manager to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain regular communication with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide updates on project progress, milestones, and potential issues.
  • Prepare reports summarizing project status, key performance indicators, and other relevant metrics.
  • Use data insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Monitor project deliverables to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Implement quality control measures to identify and address issues promptly.
  • Assist in managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Work with financial teams to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Ensure that projects adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, planners, and other project stakeholders.
  • Identify and address project-related challenges in a proactive manner.

Requirements

  • Must currently hold a Utah Professional Engineer License or have the ability to gain licensing in Utah through reciprocity within six months of start date.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Technical knowledge of civil engineering related services including land development/municipal design, utilities, grading, land surveying, construction oversight, and planning.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
  • 7+ years experience with Land Development/Municipal.
  • History of managing project teams while mentoring a staff of engineers and designers.
  • Experience writing proposals, contract management, and client management.
  • Previous experience with identifying, marketing, and securing projects within Utah.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using Civil3D design software.
  • Familiarity with Utah drainage requirements and municipal design codes.
