About the position

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III for our Roadway Design Transportation Group located in our Raleigh, NC office. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to roadway design and improvement projects. This role involves laying out horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for road widening projects, as well as modeling and designing roadway improvement projects using AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer. The candidate will also utilize 3D visualization software to create presentations for clients and public communication, ensuring that project details are effectively communicated. In addition to design responsibilities, the Civil Project Engineer will develop plan sheets and compile project packages for submission. The role requires completing roadway and drainage calculations using appropriate software and reference materials, as well as assisting in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates. The candidate will be expected to research and download available GIS open-source data, conduct field observations, and collect data for office use and project discussions. Continuous learning is encouraged, and the candidate will have opportunities to learn new technologies to enhance their skill set and contribute to the group's knowledge base. Participation in project meetings with clients and contractors is also a key aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
  • At least two years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design.
  • Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Civil 3D preferred.
  • VDOT experience preferred.
  • EIT preferred.
