About the position

The Civil Project Engineer II/III Roadway Design position at Timmons Group involves working within the Transportation Design Group to design roadway projects. The role requires proficiency in relevant engineering software and technologies, as well as the ability to perform calculations, prepare specifications, and assist in project management tasks. The successful candidate will collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure project completion and quality.

Responsibilities

• Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling, and AutoDesk Civil 3D technology.
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills, utilizing computers to solve problems.
• Prepare specifications and materials through research and manufacturing catalogs for project-specific items.
• Complete design details and plan sets for roadway projects.
• Perform research and write objective summary reports for project work or inspection.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
• Conduct field observation, inspection, and data collection as directed by senior engineering staff.
• Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
• At least two years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design.
• Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer is essential.
• Proficiency in AutoDesk Civil 3D is a plus.
• VDOT experience is preferred.
• EIT (Engineer in Training) certification is preferred.
