About the position

Crafton Tull is a 100% employee-owned planning, design, and surveying firm dedicated to improving communities. As a Civil Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning, designing, and directing various engineering projects, including streets, roads, residential and commercial developments, municipal projects, institutional facilities, industrial facilities, drainage projects, airports, and channels. Your responsibilities will include analyzing reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographic and geologic data necessary for project planning and design. You will calculate costs, determine project feasibility based on your analysis, and prepare detailed cost estimates. Utilizing computer-assisted engineering and design software, you will create engineering and design documents, modify reports, specifications, plans, and construction schedules, and conduct environmental impact studies. Regular meetings with clients will be essential to coordinate changes, inform them of additional requirements, and resolve any issues that may arise. You will also coordinate with government officials to obtain necessary approvals and permits for your projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. As a Project Manager, you will adhere to the CTA Project Management Plan, ensuring that all team members involved in assigned projects follow the established guidelines. You may supervise the design work of engineers and technicians supporting your projects, fostering teamwork and collaboration. To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate competencies in business acumen, project management, product/process design, problem-solving, technical expertise, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.
  • Calculate costs and determine project feasibility based on collected data.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to create engineering documents.
  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, and construction schedules.
  • Meet with clients to coordinate changes and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with government officials to obtain required approvals and permits.
  • Track project progress and prepare reports in accordance with regulations and client needs.
  • Research regulations, products, and design techniques to meet client needs.
  • Keep abreast of changing techniques, materials, codes, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BS) from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of four years related experience/training.
  • Must be certified as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer Intern (EI).
  • Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Oklahoma.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to write speeches and publication articles conforming to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of Database, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Hydro flow, hec-ras, and Project Management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with environmental impact studies.
  • Familiarity with construction management software.
