About the position

The Civil Project Engineer at HDR, Inc. is responsible for performing complex engineering assignments, making significant design decisions, and supervising a small team of professionals. This role requires a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on mid-size projects. The position can be based in either Honolulu or Maui, Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed.
• Function as a technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects as needed.
• Supervise and mentor a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferred, but will consider Mechanical, Environmental, and General Engineering degrees.
• Minimum 5 years of experience performing civil engineering design including design calculations, specifications, and construction drawings.
• PE or ability to obtain prior to hire.
• Familiarity with CAD and/or BIM software.
• Ability to work independently and with a project team to task completion.
• Self-motivated with strong communication and organizational skills.
