About the position

Sanborn Head & Associates Inc. is seeking a skilled, resourceful, and collaborative Civil Project Engineer to join our team in Denver, CO. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with a team of staff engineers and scientists on challenging design and construction projects. The Civil Project Engineer will be involved in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, where they will have the chance to contribute to project outcomes, interact routinely with project Principals, and grow professionally. In this role, the Civil Project Engineer will utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D as a design tool to prepare engineering drawings and related graphics, perform calculations, and integrate with other engineering software. They will also be responsible for preparing calculations supporting stormwater management, hydrology, drainage designs, slope stability evaluations, and other design projects. Additionally, the engineer will assist in the preparation of technical reports, data tables, specifications, and other deliverables, while providing construction quality assurance services and other field services on construction projects. The position requires performing environmental sampling and data analysis, including the collection of air, water, and soil samples, as well as in-situ testing of these media. Coordination with project team members and clients is essential to ensure successful project execution. This full-time position offers a flexible schedule, with 2-3 days in the office and the remainder of the time working remotely. Candidates must reside in the United States and possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare engineering drawings and related graphics.
  • Perform calculations and integrate with other engineering software.
  • Prepare calculations supporting stormwater management, hydrology, and drainage designs.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports, data tables, specifications, and other deliverables.
  • Provide construction quality assurance services and other field services on construction projects.
  • Prepare documentation detailing construction observations.
  • Perform environmental sampling and data analysis, including the collection of air, water, and soil samples.
  • Coordinate with project team members and clients.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in civil engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Experience with site civil engineering, grading, stormwater design, and pipe layout is desired.
  • Strong quantitative and observational skills.
  • Solid attention to detail and technical understanding.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with flexibility to work with shifting priorities.
  • Client-service orientation with the ability to anticipate needs and deliver to meet expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as a team member with a collaborative communication style.
