About the position

We are seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Department. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a commitment to design excellence. This candidate should possess the ability to manage project deadlines, establish and maintain client relationships, and inspire a high level of performance from the team. The role involves planning, developing, and coordinating projects with limited supervision, understanding and reviewing proposals, and calculating/reviewing costs and time schedules for proposed work. The Civil Project Engineer will effectively manage and assign duties and schedules to assigned team members, ensuring that all technical work is checked for accuracy. In this position, you will be expected to exceed client expectations and foster client relationships through collaboration and problem-solving. Regular communication with clients is essential, providing project status and updates on a weekly basis. You will recommend changes to clients as required and as approved by the Department/Project Manager, while keeping logs of client contacts. It is crucial to ensure that individual and department QA/QC procedures are followed. The role also includes fully permitting and ensuring entitlements of projects, which encompasses rezoning, special use permits, conditional use permits, site plan approvals, and required construction drawing approvals and permits. Additionally, you will supervise Civil Designers assigned to projects/teams, ensuring that all responsibilities of the designer are carried out efficiently and effectively. The Civil Project Engineer will assist in the review and processing of invoices for assigned projects and sub-consultants, and engage in business development by maintaining existing client relationships and acquiring new contacts/clients through attendance at local meetings, workshops, and/or social events.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate projects with limited supervision
  • Understand, review, and/or participate in preparing proposals
  • Calculate/review costs and time schedules for proposed work
  • Effectively manage and assign duties and schedules to assigned team members
  • Check all technical work for accuracy
  • Exceed client's expectations and foster client relationships by collaboration and problem-solving
  • Communicate with clients weekly to provide project status and updates

Requirements
