About the position

The Civil/Roadway Design Engineer will be responsible for performing roadway design on various transportation infrastructure projects, including interchanges and highway improvements. This role involves managing projects from inception to completion while fostering strong relationships with clients and engineering partners. The position emphasizes teamwork, mentorship of junior staff, and active participation in business development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway design on interchange, intersection design, and highway improvement projects for DOT and municipal clients
• Manage the project from start to finish
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients and engineering partners
• Proactively engage with clients to prepare high quality and cost-effective solutions
• Work as a key team member and task manager, mentoring junior design staff
• Assist in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field
• 10 to 15 years of experience in roadway design and plans preparation
• Registration as a licensed EIT or PE in Iowa and Nebraska, or ability to become registered in those states
• Strong roadway design and plans preparation experience on DOT-related projects
• Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, GeoPAK, or OpenRoads
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Advocate of great teamwork
