About the position

Our client is a local multidisciplinary civil engineering firm looking to add a Civil/Roadway Design Engineer to their team! This firm provides planning, design, and management services for transportation infrastructure. They have a strong relationship-based culture coupled with responsive communication and action, which makes them the consultant of choice for state and local governments. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, along with 5 to 10 years of experience in roadway design and plans preparation. Registration as a licensed EIT or PE in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, or Nebraska is required, or the ability to become registered in those states. Strong experience in roadway design and plans preparation on DOT-related projects is essential, as well as proficiency with software such as MicroStation, InRoads, GeoPAK, or OpenRoads. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary, along with a commitment to teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Perform roadway design on interchange, intersection design, and highway improvement projects for DOT and municipal clients.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients and engineering partners; proactively engage with clients to prepare high quality and cost-effective solutions.
  • Work as a key team member and task manager, mentoring junior design staff.
  • Actively assist in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in roadway design and plans preparation.
  • Registration as a licensed EIT or PE in MO, IL, KS, or NE (or ability to become registered in those states).
  • Strong roadway design and plans preparation experience on DOT-related projects.
  • Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, GeoPAK, or OpenRoads.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; advocate of great teamwork.
