About the position

Cannon Corp is seeking a Civil Senior Principal Engineer in Water Resources to join our team in West Los Angeles. Since 1976, Cannon has been dedicated to providing innovative solutions in the energy sector, water resources, public infrastructure, and both commercial and residential development. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a variety of civil engineering projects related to Public Works and Water Resources. Your duties will include overseeing project scope, schedule, and budget, as well as business development activities. You will prepare engineering reports and analyses, design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects such as wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution systems, and storm drainage systems. As a licensed Professional Engineer in California, you will also mentor less-experienced team members and ensure that quality assurance and control measures are effectively implemented. Your primary responsibilities will involve direct client interaction to coordinate project design and ensure that quality standards are met. You will be tasked with securing new business by fostering client relationships and developing proposals. Additionally, you will engage in professional and community activities that promote the Cannon brand, enhancing our visibility and reputation in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a variety of civil engineering Public Works/Water Resources projects concurrently.
  • Track project scope, budgets, and schedules to ensure fulfillment of contract commitments and profitability.
  • Manage quality assurance and quality control effectively.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for water resources projects, including pipelines, pump stations, and storage reservoirs.
  • Serve as the primary interface with clients for project coordination and design, ensuring client satisfaction and quality standards are met.
  • Mentor project engineers and design engineers on technical matters and procedures, acting as a technical resource to staff.
  • Secure new work by establishing and fostering client relations and developing proposals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with ongoing clients and actively seek to expand services to them.
  • Engage in professional/community activities that promote the Cannon brand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in Civil Engineering, specifically in Public Works/Water Resources projects.
  • At least 8 years of project management experience in Public Works/Water Resources projects.
  • California P.E. license is required.
  • Working knowledge of civil engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Hydrology and Hydraulic, AES, WSPG, Flowmaster, etc.).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Proven track record of providing superior client service and delivery.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time within budget.
  • Experience in staff management, mentoring, and resource management is a plus.

  • Familiarity with advanced civil engineering software tools.
