About the position

As an Assistant Engineer at Creighton Manning, you will play a crucial role in the design development of various commercial, institutional, and residential projects. Your responsibilities will encompass site design and layout for vehicular and pedestrian circulation, as well as parking and loading areas. You will be tasked with roadway design, which includes creating street and sidewalk plans and profiles. Additionally, you will work on utility design, focusing on water and sanitary sewer services, and drainage and stormwater management design in compliance with NYSDEC requirements. Your expertise will also be essential in developing grading and erosion control plans, managing AutoCAD design layers, and providing construction administration and observation services. In this role, you will assist in preparing application packages for municipal board reviews, ensuring compliance with local zoning, subdivision, and land use regulations, as well as state and federal environmental laws. Responsibilities

  • Assist with design development of commercial, institutional, and residential projects.
  • Conduct site design and layout for vehicular and pedestrian circulation, parking, and loading.
  • Perform roadway design, including street and sidewalk plans and profiles.
  • Design utility plans and profiles for water and sanitary sewer services.
  • Develop drainage and stormwater management designs in accordance with NYSDEC requirements.
  • Create grading and erosion control plans.
  • Control layer states within AutoCAD design plans.
  • Provide construction administration and observation services.
  • Assist in developing application packages for municipal board review that comply with local zoning, subdivision, and land use regulations.
  • Ensure consistency with a municipality's Comprehensive Plan and compliance with SEQR procedural requirements.
  • Adhere to state and federal environmental laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) certificate in New York State, or ability to obtain it is required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently, both independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic skills and knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D (Land Development Design).
  • Basic knowledge of construction methods for general excavation, pavement, and utility installation.
  • Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting processes.
