About the position

A Civil/Site Senior Engineer is a key member of the Civil/Site design team. This role is crucial for various technical aspects of land development projects, which include site feasibility and conceptual planning, detailed grading, drainage designs and profiles, stormwater management, and designing Erosion & Sedimentation Pollution Control (E&SPC) Best Management Practices (BMPs). The Senior Engineer will work within AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software, collaborating with design team members to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines. The position involves facilitating a range of projects, from large warehousing complexes to mixed-use establishments in downtown business districts, providing an opportunity to build a career alongside industry leaders. In this role, the Senior Engineer will perform design tasks such as conceptual planning, detailed grading, and drainage designs associated with civil engineering construction projects. They will prepare stormwater management calculations, generate pipe profiles, and review stormwater designs based on project constraints. The Senior Engineer will also identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions to peers and management. Additionally, they will produce construction drawings, plans, and cost estimates, and prepare necessary permits including PADEP Chapter 102 and Chapter 105 permits. The role requires conformity to the company's standard AutoCAD procedures and providing technical support to more senior staff, while also performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design tasks, such as conceptual planning, detailed grading, and drainage designs associated with civil engineering construction projects.
  • Prepare stormwater management calculations including developing basin routings, channel design, and inlet capacity calculations.
  • Generate pipe profiles and review stormwater designs based on project constraints.
  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions to peers and management.
  • Produce construction drawings, plans, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare PADEP Chapter 102 and Chapter 105 permits, including: NPDES permits, General Permits, and other technical aspects of the regulatory permitting process.
  • Develop Erosion & Sedimentation Pollution Control (E&SPC) and Post-Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) plan sets and reports.
  • Conform to the company's standard AutoCAD procedures for layering, details, etc.
  • Provide technical support to more senior staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification, preferred.
  • 2-4 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated AutoCAD Civil 3D skills with the ability to design from concept plans through construction plans.
  • Ability to interact well with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Experience in land development.
  • Knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations (PA).
  • Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and other site development related designs, preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
