About the position

PND Engineers' Anchorage office is seeking a highly motivated Civil/Structural CAD Designer with a minimum of 3 years of related experience. This position is integral to our award-winning team, which undertakes challenging civil and structural engineering design and construction administration projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing clear, accurate, and complete drawings utilizing practical design knowledge. This role requires the development of detailed design elements based on various sources, including site studies, vendor drawings, catalog data, engineering sketches, reference drawings, and input from other disciplines. The CAD Designer will also review and check design drawings and vendor shop drawings, ensuring that all elements meet the required standards. Participation in design coordination with engineers and other disciplines is essential for the development of complete drawing packages. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in computer-assisted techniques and have a solid understanding of the development and markup of plan sets for civil and public works projects, including site development, water and wastewater treatment processes, and roadways. In addition to technical skills, strong communication abilities are crucial, as the designer will work seamlessly within a team of engineers and technicians. The ability to understand and follow CAD standards, procedures, and client requirements is necessary. Familiarity with the current version of AutoCAD, along with the capability to gain proficiency in Civil 3D, Revit, and other engineering design applications, is expected. Excellent time management skills are required to produce accurate and efficient work within budget and time constraints. The position may also require occasional overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare clear, accurate and complete drawings using practical design knowledge.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience demonstrating proficiency in computer-assisted techniques.
  • Understanding of the development and markup of plan sets for civil and public works projects (site development, water and wastewater treatment process, and roadways).
  • Ability to read, use, and develop plan and profile drawings.
  • Experience working with and in 3D drawings and models.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work seamlessly in a teamwork setting in an office of engineers and technicians.
  • Ability to understand and follow CAD standards, procedures, and client requirements.
  • Experience with the current version of AutoCAD and ability to gain proficiency in Civil 3D, Revit, and other engineering design applications.
  • Excellent time management skills, and ability to produce accurate, efficient work within budget and time constraints.
  • Experience in Bluebeam REVU and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of CAD experience preferred.
  • 2-year degree in design/drafting technology, OR completion of technical design/drafting certification preferred.
  • Construction experience a plus.
