About the position

The purpose of this position is to provide essential administrative processes and technical knowledge while performing the work listed. This role is crucial in promoting Fluor's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. The position serves as an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs moderately complex engineering assignments. The engineer will evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques to a broad set of complex assignments, ensuring that all work aligns with project objectives and guidelines. Key responsibilities include applying Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for the execution of discipline engineering work. The engineer will also be responsible for developing and reviewing specifications, including design criteria, and participating in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting. Additionally, the role involves performing and checking calculations, specifying equipment, and solving moderately complex engineering problems. The engineer will review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, actively seeking discrepancy resolution. The position requires the ability to analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity, in accordance with organizational and project objectives. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, and candidates should be prepared for background checks as part of any conditional offer made, which may include education, professional registration, employment, references, passport verifications, and Global Watchlist screening.

Responsibilities

  • Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work
  • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
  • Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
  • Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately complex engineering problems
  • Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship is required
  • Experience in heavy concrete structures
  • Degree and 5-15 years as a practicing engineer required
  • Nuclear Facility design experience preferred
  • Proficiency in ACAD preferred
