About the position

Parsons is seeking a Structural Engineer II to join our Bridge/Structural group in Boston, MA. This role involves working on large projects that significantly impact urban communities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a flexible, team-oriented environment and possess strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Responsibilities include designing various types of bridges and ensuring structural reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Design engineering of bridges and structures for road & highway and transit systems in MA and the New England region.
  • Independently develop and supervise the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements.
  • Create detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and construction packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
  • Analyze proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations.
  • Conduct detailed checking of design calculations performed by others.
  • Develop structural details and construction plans using AutoCAD or Microstation; experience with Open Bridge Modeling is a plus.
  • Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems.
  • May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
  • Commit to quality and continuous improvement through innovation and creative thinking.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of bridge/structural engineering and design work experience is required.
  • BS in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
  • MS in Structural Engineering is desirable.
  • PE license is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of some state Bridge Design & Construction Manuals is highly desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, industry standard bridge design and analysis software, and AutoCAD or Microstation.
  • Good leadership and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

Nice-to-haves
