AECOM has a position opening for a Civil/Structural Engineer with a primary focus on Transmission and Distribution projects to support our growing Energy Business Line. This role offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at various Energy offices across the United States. Our team provides a wide range of civil and structural engineering services across market sectors including electrical transmission and distribution (overhead and underground power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), renewables (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), industrial processes (Oil & Gas, petrochemical), building decarbonization, and next-generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolyzers, etc.). We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to develop and further the technical skills we bring to our new and existing client base. Qualified candidates will have familiarity with civil and structural design aspects for heavy industrial clients. The responsibilities of this role include completing engineering assignments of moderate to advanced complexity under minimal direction, preparing overhead line designs using PLS-CADD, and performing structural design for transmission and distribution lines using PLS-Tower and/or PLS-Pole. The role also involves foundation design for transmission lines using MFAD and L-Pile, substation support structures, and seismic design for substation assets. A comprehensive understanding of civil/structural engineering and a basic understanding of other engineering disciplines is essential. The successful candidate will have the potential to provide technical guidance to a modest-sized group of engineers, designers, and specialists. They will be versed in the preparation and execution of civil/structural project scope, codes, permits, and software applications related to civil/structural engineering for substation and transmission & distribution projects. The role requires overseeing the review and checking of construction and vendor drawings, reviewing interdisciplinary vendor documents, and assisting with developing task and effort estimates for proposal support. Maintaining positive working relationships with peers is crucial, and occasional travel to other AECOM locations and client sites will be required. Fieldwork may include creating field sketches, taking dimensions, and climbing ladders as necessary.
