AECOM has a position opening for a Civil/Structural Engineer with a primary focus on Transmission and Distribution projects to support our growing Energy Business Line. This role offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at various Energy offices across the United States. Our team provides a wide range of civil and structural engineering services across market sectors including electrical transmission and distribution (overhead and underground power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), renewables (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), industrial processes (Oil & Gas, petrochemical), building decarbonization, and next-generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolyzers, etc.). We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to develop and further the technical skills we bring to our new and existing client base. Qualified candidates will have familiarity with civil and structural design aspects for heavy industrial clients. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, completing engineering assignments of moderate to advanced complexity under minimal direction, preparing overhead line design using PLS-CADD, structural design for transmission and distribution lines using PLS-Tower and/or PLS-Pole, and foundation design using MFAD and L-Pile. The role also involves seismic design for substation assets and requires a comprehensive understanding of civil/structural engineering along with a basic understanding of other engineering disciplines. Candidates should be capable of providing technical guidance to a modest-sized group of engineers, designers, and specialists, and must be well-versed in the preparation and execution of civil/structural project scope. Familiarity with codes, permits, and software applications related to civil/structural engineering for substation and transmission & distribution projects is essential. The role may also involve overseeing the review and checking of construction and vendor drawings, reviewing interdisciplinary vendor documents, and assisting with developing task and effort estimates for proposal support. Occasional travel is required to other AECOM locations and client sites, and candidates should be able to participate in field walks, create field sketches, take dimensions, and climb ladders as necessary.
