About the position

As a Civil Structural Engineer III at CDI Engineering Solutions, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary engineering organization that is dedicated to providing quality engineering, sustainable solutions, and maintaining a strong safety record. This position requires a solid foundation in engineering principles, as you will be tasked with performing assignments that necessitate the application of your engineering education, training, and experience. You will be expected to take on the role of Lead Engineer on singular Civil/Structural projects, applying your expertise with minimal supervision. Your responsibilities will include preparing material specifications, developing technical specifications, and evaluating vendor bids to ensure compliance with project requirements. In this role, you will also be responsible for preparing advanced sketches and calculations for specific segments of projects, conducting site visits to vendor facilities to inspect structures and equipment, and interfacing with other disciplines and clients. You will maintain a focus on cost-effective and safe design for civil/structural systems while being aware of project schedules and budgets. Responsibilities

• Ability to be a Lead Engineer on singular Civil/Structural projects.
• Applies engineering principles in discipline of competency, as assigned by supervisor with minimal direction.
• Prepare material specifications for specific components.
• Prepares advanced sketches and calculations for a specific segment of a project.
• Assists in the development of technical specifications.
• Evaluates vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications.
• Visits vendor facilities to inspect structures and relevant equipment for compliance with requirements and existing drawings, and to evaluate the site, project requirements, and conditions.
• Interfaces with other disciplines and Clients.
• Prepare Material Take-offs on civil/structural items.
• Review vendor drawings and steel fabrication drawings.
• Develop a focus on least cost and safe design for civil/structural systems.
• Maintains continued awareness of project schedule and budget.

Requirements

• Must possess the minimum of a BS in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Engineer must have 5-7 years of progressive experience in the field of Civil/Structural Engineering, preferably in the petrochemical industry.
• Engineer must already have attained PE certification or must be making plans to sit for the PE examination.
• Louisiana PE preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos, all in English.
• Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Word and Excel software.
• Ability to use basic engineering software programs, such as STAAD or RISA, is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus, but not mandatory.
