About the position

As a Civil Structural Engineer IV at CDI Engineering Solutions, you will play a crucial role in our mission to provide quality engineering and sustainable solutions. In this position, you will be responsible for structural analysis and design, preparing detailed design calculations and drawings, and ensuring that all work adheres to safety standards. Your responsibilities will include managing client relationships and developing repeat business opportunities, which are essential for the growth of our projects. You will independently prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications for project assignments, detailing client performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements. Additionally, you will set realistic expectations for project timelines and budgets, ensuring that all assigned projects are completed on schedule and within budget constraints. In this role, you will also be expected to plan and manage your workload effectively, requesting assistance as necessary to meet project demands. Your ability to think creatively and work collaboratively with other engineers and drafts-persons will be vital to the success of our projects. This position requires a strong foundation in civil and structural engineering principles, as well as proficiency in relevant software tools such as AutoCAD and STAAD Pro. Your experience in the chemical plant or refinery sector will be highly valued as you contribute to our diverse portfolio of engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to coordinate activities with others.
  • Responsibilities will include structural analysis and design, preparation of detailed design calculations and drawings.
  • Must be design capable and proficient using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Must be willing to think creatively, and work collaboratively with other engineers and drafts-persons in a team environment.
  • Manage client relationships and develop repeat business opportunities.
  • Independently prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications for project assignments, detailing client performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.

Requirements

  • PE license Required; SE license Preferred
  • 5-10+ years of design experience preferred
  • Bachelors of Science in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
  • Chemical plant or refinery experience preferred
  • Proficient in STAAD Pro, RISA 3D, Foundation, & Connection
  • Experience with Microstation and AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Advance Steel experience a plus

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in chemical plant or refinery projects
  • Familiarity with advanced structural analysis software
