About the position

As a Civil Structural Engineer IV at CDI Engineering Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to provide quality engineering and sustainable solutions. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of engineering tasks that are critical to the success of our projects in the energy and chemicals industries. Your work will involve structural analysis and design, where you will prepare detailed design calculations and drawings that meet client specifications and industry standards. You will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety in all aspects of your work, ensuring that safety considerations are integrated into your designs and daily activities. Effective communication is essential, as you will need to coordinate with other engineers and drafts-persons, sharing ideas and collaborating to achieve project goals. Your ability to think creatively will be crucial in developing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. In addition to technical skills, you will manage client relationships, striving to develop repeat business opportunities through excellent service and project delivery. You will independently prepare specifications for project assignments, detailing client performance requirements, design codes, and vendor drawing requirements. Setting realistic expectations and managing project schedules and budgets will be key responsibilities, as will planning and managing your workload and project resources. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to request assistance when necessary, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to coordinate activities with others.
  • Responsibilities will include structural analysis and design, preparation of detailed design calculations and drawings.
  • Must be design capable and proficient using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Must be willing to think creatively, and work collaboratively with other engineers and drafts-persons in a team environment.
  • Manage client relationships and develop repeat business opportunities.
  • Independently prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications for project assignments, detailing client performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
  • Set realistic expectations and ensure assigned projects are completed according to schedule and within budget.
  • Plan and manage workload, budgets and project resources, requesting assistance as necessary.

Requirements

  • PE license Required; SE license Preferred
  • 5-10+ years of design experience preferred
  • Bachelors of Science in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
  • Proficient in STAAD Pro, RISA 3D, Foundation, & Connection
  • Experience with Microstation and AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Advance Steel experience a plus
  • Chemical plant or refinery experience preferred
