About the position

Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer in Orlando, Florida, to investigate and analyze construction defects, structural failures, and other related issues in residential and commercial buildings. The role requires a strong understanding of building construction standards and practices, as well as the ability to communicate findings effectively to clients and in legal settings. Responsibilities

  • Investigate and analyze residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters.
  • Handle assignments related to contract disputes, installation deficiencies, material deficiencies, site evaluations, settlement investigations, structural assessments, and vibration analyses.
  • Gather photographic evidence and document on-site conditions during investigations.
  • Oversee field-testing and review historical documentation related to construction projects.
  • Prepare oral and written reports detailing causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
  • Provide expert opinions and testimony in litigation matters.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field.
  • PE License in Florida required; NCEES record preferred.
  • Knowledge of architectural and engineering principles, construction, and building component assemblies.
  • Willingness to obtain a General Contractor License.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey engineering/architectural issues to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform inspections in confined spaces.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with forensic consulting and dispute resolution.
  • Familiarity with construction management services.
