About the position

Rimkus Consulting Group is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer for its Tampa District. The role involves investigating and analyzing residential, commercial, and industrial properties to determine the causes of construction defects, structural failures, and other issues. The engineer will prepare reports, provide expert testimony, and maintain client relationships while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and analyze residential, commercial, and industrial properties for claims and legal matters.
• Gather photographic evidence and document on-site conditions during investigations.
• Oversee field-testing and review historical documentation related to construction defects.
• Prepare oral and written reports detailing causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
• Provide opinions and expert testimony in litigation matters.
• Assist in contract disputes, installation deficiencies, and structural assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering; Master's Degree preferred.
• 6-10 years minimum experience in the field.
• PE License in Florida is required.
• NCEES record preferred.
• Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
• Experience handling litigation and investigations is required.
• Knowledge of architectural and engineering principles and construction practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation are required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform inspections in confined spaces.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual (English-Spanish) is desired.
• Testimony experience is required.
