About the position

The Civil / Structural Engineering Project Engineer will be responsible for performing a variety of structural engineering analysis and design tasks, particularly in relation to offshore structures. This role requires a strong background in civil and structural engineering, with a focus on modeling jackets and decks, and familiarity with relevant codes and standards. The ideal candidate will work both independently and collaboratively, with occasional travel to offshore sites in the Gulf of Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design tasks in structural steel, reinforced concrete, and wood structures, shallow and deep foundations using governing codes and standards.
  • Perform both static and dynamic analysis.
  • Develop and review shop drawings.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering design documents.
  • Perform site investigations and field activities such as-built drawing development for existing structures, observation of construction progress, and existing field conditions such as corrosion damage and loading.
  • Prepare engineering technical reports and engineering calculation packages; assist in the preparation of design drawings and specifications.
  • Support the preparation of project models, design plans, specifications, and coordination with other design disciplines to deliver high-quality engineering services.
  • Utilize a broad assortment of technical and critical thinking skills on projects ranging from small modifications and repairs to large-scale new construction.

Requirements

  • Degree from ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural preferred.
  • Ability to use Bentley SACS is a must.
  • Knowledge and experience of structural engineering concepts, principles, and practices for offshore platforms.
  • Majority of the experience must be in offshore structures with a concentration in Brownfield, repairs, modifications, strengthening, and integrity management.
  • Experience in using design codes: AISC, ASCE, and API RP 2A.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or intent to pursue professional licensure is preferred.
  • Proven skills in calculations, beam element modeling and analysis, and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are fundamental.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to shifts in priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Field experience is a plus.
  • Recent experience using AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Experience with CAESAR II, Solidworks, ANSYS, and Orcaflex software is a plus.
