About the position

The Civil/Structural Field Engineer position is a contract role based in Georgetown, KY, requiring a Bachelor's degree specifically in Civil Engineering. The role is focused on providing expertise in civil and structural systems, particularly in the context of commercial and industrial buildings. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising on-site activities, ensuring quality checks and verifications are conducted effectively. This position is critical for ensuring compliance with local, state, and national codes, as well as facility operations and standards. The engineer will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in civil and structural systems, collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop project criteria, scope, estimates, and schedules. The role involves reviewing civil structural system drawings from external engineering firms to support system implementation and ensuring that all work aligns with established codes and standards. Additionally, the engineer will coordinate with contractors and plant facilities groups during weekend and plant shutdown work, conduct continuous work progress inspections, and support construction administration activities, including schedule coordination and quality confirmations. Candidates should have a strong hands-on experience with steel and concrete, as well as a solid background in construction management, particularly in industrial and commercial building projects. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication skills to facilitate coordination among various teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert related to Civil, Structural systems.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop project criteria, scope, estimate, and project schedules.
  • Provide internal review of CS system drawings from outside engineering firms to support system implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with related local, state, national codes, facility operations, and standards.
  • Conduct shop drawing review, RFI processing, and Kanban completion for Client systems.
  • Coordinate weekend and plant shutdown work with contractors, plant facilities groups, and manufacturing groups.
  • Conduct work progress inspections on a continuous basis.
  • Support construction administration activities related to schedule coordination, quality confirmations, weekly coordination meetings, and planned utility outages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is a must-have.
  • 2+ years in construction management (Industrial/Commercial Building) is required.
  • 5+ years in the Civil design field is required.
  • Experience in design criteria development for Civil Structural systems is necessary.
  • Automotive experience with engine, transmission, or vehicle facilities or similar industrial manufacturer is preferred.
  • Good organizational skills, communication skills, and schedule management skills are essential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Bluebeam and AutoCAD is preferred.
