About the position

The Civil & Structural Staff Engineer at BASF in Geismar, LA, is responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership throughout all phases of capital projects, as well as offering routine technical support for a chemical manufacturing facility. This role involves collaborating with a multi-discipline engineering team to develop and execute civil and structural scopes for various projects, including debottlenecking, brownfield modifications, and greenfield projects. The engineer will manage multiple projects, ensuring effective communication and project execution while identifying cost reduction opportunities and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and leadership in the specification, design, material take-off, and construction support of civil and structural infrastructure.
• Manage multiple projects and changing priorities while ensuring effective execution and communication of project activities.
• Develop cost estimates, hour forecasts, schedules, and budget metrics for assigned projects.
• Serve as the BASF owner's engineer, providing technical oversight for projects completed by external suppliers and engineering firms.
• Participate in project meetings and propose value-based engineering savings while engaging with various internal teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• At least 10 years of capital projects experience in the petrochemical industry.
• Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment.
