About the position

AECOM is seeking an experienced and dynamic Mid-level Civil Track Engineer to join our Greater Pennsylvania team. The ideal candidate will serve as a senior technical advisor for our world-class rail team and work on transit and freight projects on a national level. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the successful planning, design, and execution of transportation projects. Daily duties and responsibilities include serving as an AECOM track task lead on planning studies, design studies, and final design projects. The engineer will provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise, ensuring that high-quality, cost-effective work is facilitated by developing study and design procedures. Participation in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables is essential, as is the development of construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects. The engineer will utilize their expertise in all steps of completing the discipline component of the PS&E package and perform quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings. Additionally, the role involves preparing technical specification sections and providing input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an AECOM track task lead on planning studies, design studies, and final design projects.
  • Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field + 6 years of industry or related experience in transportation design or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience with OpenRail, Bentley Inroads, and/or AutoCAD Civil3D.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer's License.
  • Experience designing transit and transportation infrastructure.
  • Experience leading tasks and delegating work.
  • Advanced proficiency with OpenRail, Bentley Inroads, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Ability to prepare engineering design and schematic plan sets for transit or rail.
  • Ability to coordinate with other design disciplines that are part of the whole design team.
  • Ability to interpret and use appropriate design standards.
