About the position

The Civil/Transportation Engineer position at NV5 in Philadelphia involves designing multi-modal transportation projects, including complete streets and trails. The role emphasizes collaboration within a diverse team of engineers and planners, focusing on improving public spaces and community development. Candidates will engage in technical design duties, project coordination, and community engagement efforts, contributing to various public and private projects in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical design duties including multi-modal design documents, calculations, report writing, specification development, and cost estimating.
  • Develop horizontal and vertical corridor design including centerline alignments, vertical profiles, cross sections, and site grading.
  • Coordinate with internal project team members across several NV5 offices, including structural, geotechnical, traffic, and water resources engineers, as well as planners and landscape architects.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants, public agencies, and clients, participate in project meetings, and assist with community engagement efforts as needed.
  • Participate in professional societies like ASCE, WTS, and ITE.

Requirements

  • EIT License in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and/or New Jersey
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering
  • At least 1-4 years of civil or transportation design experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/InRoads/Open Roads Software
  • Strong interest in active transportation, complete streets, Vision Zero, and first/last mile solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with roadway or highway design involving PennDOT, NJDOT and/or DelDOT
  • Interest in assisting with transportation planning, including active transportation plans, corridor master plans, and trail routing and feasibility studies.
