About the position

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Civil Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2025 at our Greenwood Village, CO; Denver, CO; Loveland, CO; Colorado Springs, CO; San Antonio, TX; Boise, ID; Lewiston, ID; or Coeur d'Alene, ID offices. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on rewarding client projects while being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2025, allowing interns to gain valuable experience in the field of civil engineering. During the internship, the selected candidate will engage in a variety of engineering tasks related to water and wastewater design. Responsibilities will include the preparation of drawings and details, process models, cost estimates, operations and maintenance manuals, study and design reports, and other work products. Interns will also have the chance to collaborate with other disciplines, interface with clients and contractors, adhere to schedules and budget commitments, and develop their communication and problem-solving skills. This position is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience in a professional setting, preparing interns for future careers in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Gain technical experience in the field of civil engineering.
  • Prepare drawings and details for water and wastewater design.
  • Develop process models and cost estimates.
  • Create operations and maintenance manuals and study/design reports.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Interface with clients and contractors.
  • Follow schedules and budget commitments.
  • Work independently and communicate effectively.
  • Solve problems related to engineering tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internship(s) in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Local candidates preferred
