About the position

Merrick & Company is offering a paid summer internship for college or graduate school students in Civil Engineering at our Greenwood Village, CO office for Summer 2025. This internship is designed for students who are actively pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, specifically those entering their junior year or higher, or currently enrolled in graduate school. The internship will run approximately from mid-May through mid-August 2025, providing students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the civil engineering field. Interns will work on rewarding client projects and will be exposed to a variety of civil engineering tasks, including water, wastewater, and utility design, condition assessment, and construction management. This position requires collaboration with other disciplines, effective communication with clients and contractors, adherence to schedules and budget commitments, and the ability to work independently. Interns must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to attendance and punctuality. The internship will also include professional training and skill development opportunities, flexible work hours, and the chance to participate in weekly training meetings, including sessions with the CEO and President. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain real-world experience while contributing to meaningful projects.

Responsibilities

  • Gain technical experience in the field of civil engineering.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Pursuing an engineering degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internships in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Local candidates preferred.
