About the position

Merrick & Company is excited to offer a paid summer internship for Civil Engineering students in 2025. This internship is designed for undergraduate or graduate students who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the field of civil engineering, specifically focusing on water and wastewater design. The internship will take place in various locations including Greenwood Village, Denver, Loveland, Colorado Springs, San Antonio, Boise, Lewiston, and Coeur d'Alene. The commitment for this internship spans approximately from mid-May to mid-August 2025, providing students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in real-world engineering projects while receiving unparalleled training and development opportunities. Interns will engage in a variety of engineering tasks, which will include the preparation of technical drawings and details, development of process models, creation of cost estimates, and drafting of operations and maintenance manuals. Additionally, interns will be involved in compiling study and design reports, and producing other essential work products. This role will also require collaboration with other engineering disciplines, interfacing with clients and contractors, and adhering to project schedules and budget commitments. Interns will have the chance to work independently while honing their communication and problem-solving skills, making this a comprehensive learning experience in the civil engineering field.

Responsibilities

  • Gain technical experience in civil engineering, specifically in water and wastewater design.
  • Prepare drawings and details for engineering projects.
  • Develop process models and cost estimates.
  • Create operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Compile study and design reports and other work products.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Interface with clients and contractors.
  • Follow project schedules and budget commitments.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of an undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in graduate school.
  • Pursuing an engineering degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internship(s) in Civil Engineering.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Local candidates preferred.
