Civil/Water Resources Design Engineer

About the position

The position involves responsibilities in civil and water resource engineering tasks, including the preparation of plans, engineering reports, and specifications for various civil and water resources engineering projects. These projects encompass water distribution system design, sewer collection system design, grading, erosion control, SWPPP, low impact design, post-construction requirements, drainage system design, hydrology and hydraulics design, and civil/water/wastewater design in support of commercial project development. The role also includes providing engineering support for public agencies, roadway design, and other municipal public works infrastructure project designs. Additionally, the candidate will assist Project Managers with program management and engineering-related support services, which include quantity take-offs, development of engineering estimates, construction inspection and oversight, contractor and subconsultant management, preparation of staff reports, and proposals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plans, engineering reports, and specifications for civil and water resources engineering projects.
• Design water distribution and sewer collection systems.
• Conduct grading, erosion control, and drainage system design.
• Implement hydrology and hydraulics design.
• Support civil/water/wastewater design for commercial projects.
• Provide engineering support for public agencies and roadway design.
• Assist Project Managers with program management and engineering support services.
• Perform quantity take-offs and develop engineering estimates.
• Conduct construction inspection and oversight.
• Manage contractors and subconsultants.
• Prepare staff reports and proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT or professional registration (California preferred).
• Minimum of five years of qualifying experience in Civil or Water Resource Engineering.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD / Civil 3D.

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated proficiency in Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, FLO-2D, StormCAD, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, and InfoSWMM.
• Experience with GIS databases related to public agency utility systems including water, sewer, and storm drain.
• Utility master planning and preparation of utility Atlas maps.
• Knowledgeable with ArcGIS 9x, ArcView, AutoCAD Map.
