About the position

The Civilian Pay Technician position at Madigan Army Medical Center involves handling various civilian payroll transactions, ensuring accurate processing of payroll cycles, and communicating effectively with employees regarding payroll and leave issues. This role is essential for maintaining compliance with regulations and providing support in payroll management within the Department of Defense.

Responsibilities

• Handle a variety of civilian payroll transactions, including unique payroll situations.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of regular payroll cycles.
• Verify entries in automated timekeeping systems for consistency and compliance with regulations.
• Accurately code different types of leave, including annual leave, sick leave, and family medical leave.
• Ensure premium pay entitlements such as overtime, night differentials, and hazard pay are correctly coded.
• Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and other stakeholders regarding payroll and leave issues.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience performing clerical and technical work in support of budget, accounting, auditing, payroll, fiscal, and/or financial management functions.
• Experience processing payroll leave and/or timekeeping.
• Ability to provide data, reports, guidance, and resolution for pay and leave inquiries.
• Typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
• Possess and maintain a valid US State issued driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automated systems for inputting, tracking, and verifying entries of time, leave, and pay.
• Graduate level education in accounting, business, or a related field.
