About the position

The Claims Business Operations & Product Owner Manager will oversee the Claims Department, driving quality, effectiveness, and efficiency through collaboration with various leaders. This role involves advancing the department's data and analytics capabilities, managing vendor solutions, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. The manager will lead and develop claims personnel while acting as the primary point of contact for third-party partnerships and internal audits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, guide, hire, train, and develop claims personnel in claims activities related to business operations and data analytics.
  • Act as Product Owner for Columbia Insurance Group's instance of Guidewire Claims Center.
  • Manage all Claims related SaaS vendor solutions, including contract management and IT security engagement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all TPA partnerships, coordinating ongoing SLAs and performance improvement plans.
  • Develop a strategy for reporting strategic Claims KPIs across departments in collaboration with senior leaders.
  • Lead the data and analytics governance process for internal Claims operational reporting with Claims field leadership.
  • Act as business lead for all statutory, regulatory, and bureau required Claims data calls and statistical reporting.
  • Work with IT to create, approve, validate, and release required data reports to stakeholders.
  • Support audit activities and participate in audits to monitor compliance within file activities.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational management of budget setting, headcount, and departmental projects for the Claims VP.
  • Lead the Claims onboarding and department training program.
  • Develop claim KPI reporting and maintain delivery of data to teams and management.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Business Operations/Product Owner Lead experience.
  • At least 3 years experience in a supervisory position.
  • Thorough understanding of ISO Commercial manuals, rating, and statistical plans.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Claims experience and knowledge of claim duties/operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience implementing a new core insurance suite.
  • Experience in designing and developing enterprise level strategies.
  • Experience in development of claim reports and analyzing of data.
