About the position

Join us as a Claims Complex Director to take on key responsibilities within a world-class claims function. In this role, you will determine the scope and extent of available coverage, re-evaluate coverage as warranted, and maintain clear and concise written and verbal communication with insureds, brokers, and underwriters. You will be responsible for making regular and appropriate contact with internal and external customers, providing guidance to the insured and/or broker to manage expectations. Additionally, you will prepare and execute investigation strategies that identify critical issues affecting liability, causation, and damages while considering opportunities for third-party contribution. You will obtain the appropriate authority to independently negotiate moderate to high severity complex commercial auto/general liability claims nationwide with top plaintiff attorneys. Your responsibilities will also include documenting evaluation, thought processes, and strategies, utilizing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as appropriate and necessary, and effectively strategizing and budgeting the litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors, and insureds. Establishing clear ground rules with defense and coverage counsel to maintain financial control of budget and expenses will also be a key part of your role.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills.
  • Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management, including ADR and mediation processes involving auto/GL exposures.
  • Experience attending and controlling cases at mediations/settlement conferences, pre-suit, post-suit, pre-trial, and post-trial.
  • Motivated individuals interested in the potential for an upwardly mobile career path.
