About the position

As a Claims Consultant on the Physicians & Surgeons team at MedPro Group, you will play a crucial role in managing professional liability claims and ensuring that our policyholders receive the best possible service. This position is based in Oklahoma City, OK, and involves a variety of responsibilities that are essential to the effective handling of medical malpractice policies. You will be tasked with reviewing these policies to confirm coverage, which is a critical step in the claims process. Your expertise will be vital in interpreting, analyzing, and resolving coverage issues that may arise during the claims process. In addition to policy review, you will manage claims and suits brought against our policyholders, which requires a keen understanding of the legal landscape surrounding medical malpractice. You will select legal counsel and manage litigation with outside counsel, ensuring that all aspects of the litigation process are handled efficiently. This includes managing litigation costs, both fees and expenses, and posting reserves for both loss and additional living expenses (ALE). Your negotiation skills will be put to the test as you work to resolve cases through settlement, dismissal, or trial. Providing exceptional service to our insureds is a key component of this role. You will assist in sales and retention efforts of the sales force, ensuring that our clients feel supported and valued. Additionally, you will perform other activities required of a front-line claims person, contributing to the overall success of the team and the organization. Responsibilities

  • Review medical malpractice policies to confirm coverage.
  • Manage professional liability claims and suits brought against policyholders.
  • Interpret, analyze, and resolve coverage issues.
  • Select legal counsel.
  • Manage the litigation with outside counsel.
  • Manage litigation costs, both fees and expenses.
  • Post reserves for both loss and ALE.
  • Resolve cases, via settlement, dismissal or trial.
  • Negotiate settlements.
  • Provide service to insureds, assist where possible in sales and retention efforts of sales force.
  • Perform other activities required of a front line claims person.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of claim experience, preferably in medical malpractice, professional liability, or other liability claims.
  • Negotiation/Mediation experience.
  • JD (preferred) or Bachelor's degree along with pertinent industry experience.
  • Adjuster's license (or ability to obtain within 90 days) may be required.
