About the position

The Claims Facilitator at Erie Insurance is responsible for settling claims within their authority limits, ensuring effective communication with policyholders and claimants, and processing various types of claims. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage inquiries and maintain accurate records while providing support during high-volume periods.

Responsibilities

  • Processes first party automobile, third party clear liability automobile, and low severity property claims within limits of authority.
  • Contacts policyholders and/or claimants, verifies coverage, sets reserves, and issues payments using ERIE's approved payment methods.
  • Establishes contact with all parties involved in the claim in accordance with ERIE's expectations.
  • Handles inquiries from policyholders, agents, insurance carriers, claimants, and others.
  • Enters loss information into the claims system.
  • Prepares correspondence, forms, and related materials, and reviews all pending claims/activities on a regular basis.
  • Provides support for property claims during periods of heavy volume.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and one year of related claims handling, customer service, or clerical experience required; or equivalent educational experience required.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.
  • Pursuit of general insurance education preferred.
  • Obtain appropriate licenses as required by state within 45 days of employment for external applicants and 90 days for internal applicants.
