About the position

The Claims Intern position at BITCO Corporation is a summer internship designed for students pursuing careers in commercial insurance or business-related fields. Interns will gain hands-on experience in corporate insurance functions and the specialty marketplace while working closely with professionals in the industry. The program emphasizes skill development, networking opportunities, and mentorship, providing a comprehensive introduction to the insurance sector.

Responsibilities

• Assist business units with work assigned to them, including project work and day-to-day activities.
• Perform duties of entry-level insurance professionals.
• Conduct research and/or other work for assigned projects.
• Perform department administrative and support duties as needed.
• Create, review, and/or analyze department reports and data.
• Participate in initiatives to improve workflows and processes.
• Review and update department procedures as needed.
• Actively participate in summer internship program events, such as lunch and learns, training, and networking.
• Develop business knowledge and acumen through interactions and shadowing with other professionals.
• Attend regular department or business unit meetings.
• Complete required training.
• Create and deliver presentations.
• Other tasks and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be working toward a Risk Management, Insurance, or Business focused degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated, with the proven desire to learn and gain experience.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to follow instruction and follow through on tasks.
• Time management skills, with ability to work on multiple projects and rotate through departments or projects as assigned.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer programs.
• Must be dependable and available to work for the duration of the internship program.
