About the position

The Claims Program Manager at UGI Corporation is responsible for overseeing and managing third-party claims related to auto liability and general liability for AmeriGas Propane. This role involves strategic direction and performance management of a Third-Party Claims Administrator (TPA) to ensure optimal financial outcomes for the company. The position is hybrid, requiring two days a week in the office located in King of Prussia, PA, and involves complex regulatory requirements across various states.

Responsibilities

  • Manage small third-party auto liability and general liability claims assigned to and handled by TPA.
  • Review, verify, and pay monthly TPA invoices.
  • Negotiate TPA contract.
  • Manage submission, review, and payment of legal invoices from defense counsel on litigated claims.
  • Review TPA overall performance and set strategic direction for claims prioritization.
  • Provide oversight to TPA for handling claims, including reviewing claim summaries and requests for authority.
  • Meet regularly with TPA adjusters to discuss claims and issues.
  • Coordinate delivery of claims-related information from Operations to TPA adjusters.
  • Participate in mediations and other claim-related matters.
  • Establish and review reserves for claims.
  • Develop and maintain servicing instructions for TPA.
  • Analyze and report on various claims-related metrics.
  • Provide ongoing training to external claims personnel.
  • Assist Litigation Counsel in managing large claims and litigated claims as required.
  • Oversee outside counsel and experts for litigated claims.
  • Provide regular updates of reported claims to insurance carriers.
  • Assist in managing quarterly claims reserve meetings and related reports.
  • Provide customer service support for claims-related inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in claims management or related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Technical knowledge of auto liability and general liability claims and litigation.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with insurance policies and coverages.
  • Familiarity with claims metrics and reporting.
