About the position

The Claims & Risk Manager at Silvi Materials is responsible for overseeing the handling and analysis of workers' compensation and third-party claims. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient claims management, which directly impacts the company's performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing claims in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and will work closely with various stakeholders to drive optimal claims outcomes and develop best practices for sustainable success.

Responsibilities

  • File WC and TP Claims with the appropriate carriers and ensure claims handling partners are aware of initial claims handling strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive claims management process to ensure consistent and efficient claims handling.
  • Establish effective relationships with representatives from carriers, captive, treating doctors, third-party administrators, outside counsel, and insurance brokers.
  • Understand and apply New Jersey and Pennsylvania workers compensation regulations to manage strategic decisions with third-party administrators and outside counsel.
  • Gather and produce documentation to insurance and legal teams supporting claims in litigation.
  • Present payment and settlements for approval with recommendations.
  • Generate checks for claims payments as needed or required.
  • Interpret workers compensation reports and communicate with other departments to ensure doctor recommendations are executed.
  • Work with providers to ensure proper treatment is given timely.
  • Create and manage a network of medical locations for employee care.
  • Submit OSHA logs and MSHA injury information.
  • Review adjuster performance to ensure best outcomes for Silvi.
  • Analyze claims data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Manage mobile drug testing supplies, audit reports for accuracy, and assist in projects associated with safety and environmental departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, insurance management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in managing PD and BI claims in both the auto and general liability space.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in managing workers compensation claims.
  • Solid background in coverage analysis, reserving, claims investigation and litigation management.
  • Experience with handling legal documents and interfacing with corporate and external counsel.
  • Strong knowledge of claims handling best practices and industry regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
