About the position

The Claims Specialist - Surety/CPR/CPI at Everest Insurance Company is responsible for managing Surety claims and pre-claim matters. This role involves investigating contract and commercial surety bond claims, applying claims policies, reviewing coverage, assessing liability, and implementing loss mitigation strategies. The specialist will work within defined authority limits on complex assignments, negotiate and resolve claims, and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective resolutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Surety claims and pre-claim matters.
  • Investigate contract and commercial surety bond claims.
  • Review coverage and assess liability and compensability.
  • Identify and implement loss mitigation strategies.
  • Negotiate and resolve claims within defined authority limits.
  • Set reserves and authorize payments within scope of authority.
  • Coordinate investigations and evaluate claims through contact with various stakeholders.
  • Develop complex settlement packages and identify claims with recovery potential.
  • Prepare and present reports for management on claims activities.
  • Input data accurately reflecting claim circumstances and business outcomes.
  • Provide guidance to other claims staff and functional areas.
  • Partner with Underwriting teams to market the Surety product and provide data on claims trends.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of claims experience in a similar role, specifically managing surety, CPR, and/or CPI claims.
  • Solid knowledge of claims and surety and insurance industry theory and practices.
  • Demonstrable technical expertise and product-specific knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and other business-related software.
