About the position

The Claims Specialist - Surety/CPR/CPI at Everest Insurance Company is responsible for managing Surety claims and pre-claim matters, focusing on investigating contract and commercial surety bond claims. This role involves applying claims policies, assessing liability, implementing loss mitigation strategies, and negotiating resolutions for complex claims. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective claim resolutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Surety claims and pre-claim matters.
  • Investigate contract and commercial surety bond claims.
  • Review coverage, assess liability and compensability, and implement loss mitigation strategies.
  • Negotiate and resolve claims within defined authority limits.
  • Interpret complex bond coverages and determine applicability to claims.
  • Set reserves and authorize payments within scope of authority.
  • Coordinate investigations and evaluate claims through contact with various stakeholders.
  • Identify claims with recovery potential and coordinate with subrogation/salvage unit.
  • Prepare and present reports for management regarding claims activities.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other claims staff and functional areas.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of claims experience in a similar role, specifically managing surety, CPR, and/or CPI claims.
  • Solid knowledge of claims and surety and insurance industry theory and practices.
  • Demonstrable technical expertise and product-specific knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and other business-related software.
