About the position

The Claims Specialist at AECOM is responsible for managing and processing claims related to construction projects, ensuring compliance with program policies and regulatory standards. This role involves investigating claims, communicating with relevant parties, and working with internal teams to facilitate timely resolutions and appropriate compensation for all parties involved.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze claims arising from construction projects, including delays, cost overruns, and scope changes
  • Examine construction contracts to understand obligations, liabilities, and risks, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions
  • Provide recommendations to resolve disputes amicably, minimizing financial impact and project delays
  • Confirm all claims are handled in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, working closely with legal teams when necessary
  • Prepare detailed reports on claims status, outcomes, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders
  • Process claims in a timely manner according to program guidelines, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct thorough investigations to verify the legitimacy of claims, including reviewing statements, reports, and other evidence
  • Work closely with other departments such as underwriting, legal, and customer service to resolve claims-related issues and provide accurate information

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or relevant discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in claims or contract management
  • Strong knowledge of claims processing, insurance policies, and industry regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to evaluate and assess claims accurately
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to handle a high volume of claims and resolve issues with efficiency and accuracy
  • Knowledge of legal aspects related to claims, such as contract law, negligence, and liability
  • Detail-oriented with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring thorough evaluation of claims and accurate outcomes
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, adapting to dynamic project requirements
