About The Position

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Class A CDL Line Haul Driver to operate various tractor-trailer combinations over long distances, ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of freight. This role emphasizes a strong commitment to safety, excellence, and work-life balance, with drivers typically working a 5-day workweek and being home most nights. Requirements

• Must have 12 months previous tractor trailer driving experience and/or be a graduate of a State Certified and Licensed truck driving school.
• Must possess a valid commercial driver's license with hazmat, doubles, and tanker endorsements.
• Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance.
• Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the US Department of Transportation.
• Must satisfactorily pass a drug test and alcohol test (if applicable).
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with operating hand-held mini-computers for navigation and delivery records.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of hazardous materials.
• Meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation and satisfactorily pass a drug test and alcohol test.
• Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles before beginning trips, ensuring that products loaded onto trailers are stable and will not shift during transit and delivery.
• Operate tablets/phones to record information regarding deliveries and to begin navigation.
• Unsecure freight for delivery and unload freight at drop-off locations using a hand truck.
• Be available for around-the-clock shifts to accommodate freight movements and be able to be away from home for extended periods.
