About the position
The Class B Delivery Driver is responsible for running daily routes with frequent stops, loading and unloading products, and ensuring timely deliveries. This role requires operating a box truck, managing inventory, and maintaining customer relations while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Run daily routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
- Unload product from the trailer, either by hand or using a hand cart, and place it in designated customer storage areas.
- Transport products down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions.
- Lift, push, or move products weighing 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds, and frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets.
- Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures.
- Contact management for authorization when discrepancies occur on invoices.
- Communicate all errors and returns to management.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and effectively.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with DOT regulations and Sysco policies.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
- One year of route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License - Class B (Class A preferred).
- Ability to read and understand English.
- Strong customer relations and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to operate a vehicle in various traffic and weather conditions.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in handling money preferred.
