About the position

The position involves supervising the organization, training, and daily work activities of assessment classification caseworkers. The supervisor is responsible for planning and scheduling job duties, monitoring caseloads to ensure equitable workload distribution, and ensuring that inmate assessments are completed and entered accurately into the automated system for all incoming R&E inmates. Monthly training sessions with caseworkers are conducted, and the supervisor serves on classification committees as needed. The role also includes responding to inmate requests for information and inquiries from department officials and other agencies, preparing and submitting monthly reports, and advising the R&E manager on all classification matters. The supervisor serves as the central point of contact regarding assessment classification issues.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the organization, training, and daily work activities of assessment classification caseworkers.
  • Plans and schedules job duties and monitors caseloads to ensure an equitable workload distribution.
  • Ensures inmate assessments are completed and entered accurately into the automated system for all incoming R&E inmates.
  • Conducts monthly training with caseworkers and serves on classification committees as needed.
  • Ensures inmates are classified and assigned to an appropriate institution in accordance with SCDC policies and procedures.
  • Responds to inmate requests for information and inquiries from department officials and other agencies.
  • Prepares and submits monthly reports and advises the R&E manager on all classification matters.
  • Serves as the central point of contact regarding assessment classification issues.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and related experience.
  • A Bachelors degree and one (1) year of inmate classification experience; OR an Associate degree and two (2) years of inmate classification experience; OR a High School diploma and four (4) years of inmate classification experience.
