About The Position

The classified substitute position is an on-call, as needed position to fill in for classified employees who are absent for various reasons, such as illness, conference/convention attendance or short-term leaves. Classified positions would include categories such as Basic Education Assistant (recess duty, lunchroom monitor, bus duty, etc.), Special Education Assistant (assisting w/supervision and instruction of special needs students), and Support Services Instructional Assistant (instructional support in reading and/or math for individual students and/or small groups). Although the Battle Ground Public School District has a fairly steady demand for substitutes, the nature of the work is quite varied. Therefore, classified substitutes must possess flexibility in being available and a willingness to work in different assignments and school locations.

Requirements

• Eligibility for lawful employment in the United States.
• High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate (GED).
• Willingness to be fingerprinted upon offer of employment.
• No serious behavioral problems that endanger the educational welfare or personal safety of students.
• No convictions or guilty pleas for crimes against children.

Nice To Haves

• Valid First Aid card.
• Valid CPR card.

Responsibilities

• Fill in for classified employees who are absent for various reasons.
• Assist with supervision and instruction of special needs students.
• Provide instructional support in reading and/or math for individual students and/or small groups.
• Perform duties such as recess duty, lunchroom monitoring, and bus duty.
