About the position

The Classroom Aide/Substitute position at Boulder County Community Services Department involves assisting teachers in maintaining a safe and appropriate early childhood classroom environment. The role includes delivering learning materials, conducting screenings and assessments, and supporting family participation in the Head Start program. This is a full-time, hourly, grant-funded position that follows the Boulder Valley School District calendar, working 20-40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in all functions and duties related to the maintenance of a safe early childhood classroom.
• Deliver learning materials to parents and conduct home visits and conferences with families.
• Conduct screenings and assessments with children.
• Participate in lesson planning and supervision of the classroom in the absence of the teacher.
• Assist in developing and implementing individual education plans for each child.
• Complete Individual Child Profiles for all children as directed by the teacher.
• Provide families with information through phone calls, newsletters, and lesson plans.
• Encourage family participation in classroom activities and ensure completion of home visits and conferences.
• Attend and assist in Back to School Night and other parent meetings as requested.
• Complete daily paperwork accurately and ensure timely submission of monthly totals.
• Assist with classroom preparation, storage, cleanup, and minor maintenance as needed.
• Attend program in-services and obtain required early childhood education training hours.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional classroom environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Child Development Associate Certification or willingness to enroll in a CDA program upon hire.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to use a computer with basic skills in Microsoft Office and internet-based assessment systems.
