About the position
The Classroom Associate works directly in a classroom to fill vacancies created by absent teachers. This role requires flexibility to address both short-term and long-term needs within the school. Responsibilities include providing instructional support, supervising students, and collaborating with instructional leaders to enhance the learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform various instructional support tasks to facilitate effective teaching and maintain a positive classroom environment.
- Work with instructional leaders to plan daily lessons tailored to meet the needs of all students.
- Follow the daily schedule, class rolls, and lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher or school administration.
- Establish and enforce rules of behavior and procedures for effective classroom management.
- Participate in meetings and assist with school events as required.
- Supervise students both in and out of the classroom.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
- 1-3 years of work experience in an educational setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Basic understanding of current technology and its application in the classroom.
- Knowledge of School Board policies and practices related to teaching.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Skills in planning, organizing, and establishing priorities.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Individual Education Plans (IEP) and special education needs.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques.
- Experience in tutoring or providing intervention services.
